"Kate’s recent works celebrate the importance of what is local to the shore, as have many artists who have come before her similarly done. Her paintings link us to the pound boat paintings by Francis I. Bennett during the 1920’s, the clamming scenes of Oscar Julius in the 1940’s and the endangered ships painted by Franklin Briscoe in the 1890’s. When Kate’s paintings show us these frozen moments of activities by the local shore men, we are reminded of the eternal mystery and beauty of the bay and ocean around us..."
